A Way Forward
The Carmarthenshire Heritage Regeneration Trust is independent of government and therefore able to operate at micro and macro levels to bring about regeneration through heritage.
We aim to assist with the continuing regeneration of the economy of the area via the identification, conservation and enhancement of the rich human and natural heritage of the area.
Carmarthenshire already has an excellent track record of heritage and culture benefiting the local economy. The Dylan Thomas Boathouse, The National Botanic Garden for Wales, Aberglasne Gardens, Parc Dinefwr and Dolau Cothi Gold Mines are all examples.
An essential role for the Carmarthenshire Heritage Regeneration Trust will be the encouragement of new projects that have direct economic and cultural benefit to local communities and build upon the existing skill base. To do this will require an assessment and understanding of the county's cultural heritage assets (who is doing what and where?)
We will then analyse the outcome of the assessment to guide development strategies followed by a training programme to improve the conservation/heritage skills base in the area working in conjunction with existing training deliverers.
We will also work in conjunction with existing agencies to encourage and enhance project development through the provision of advice and direct help.
